HOUSTON (AP) — More than 100 homes have been damaged after a tornado touched down in a residential area outside Houston, authorities in Texas reported on Monday.
No injuries were reported.
Photos and drone footage shared on social media by the Harris County Precinct 4 constable showcased roofs stripped of shingles, with debris blocking several roads.
Damage primarily affected the Memorial Northwest neighborhood, according to the office of constable Mark Herman.
The Houston Fire Department dispatched a saw team to remove fallen trees from the affected areas, said spokesperson Rustin Rawlings.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for southeastern Texas, including Houston, lasting until 1 a.m. Tuesday. Additionally, severe thunderstorm warnings have also been issued for parts of the region.
This report has been updated to clarify that Herman is the constable of Harris County Precinct 4, not Precinct 3.
