Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is currently facing serious allegations, including multiple counts of rape and additional offences. The police confirmed on Friday that Høiby is suspected of three rapes alongside 23 other charges following a comprehensive investigation initiated after his arrests in August, September, and November of the previous year.

Høiby's legal representative, Petar Sekulic, stated that the 28-year-old is taking the accusations "very seriously" but maintains his innocence regarding many of the allegations, particularly concerning sexual abuse and violence. Despite being under scrutiny since an initial arrest on August 4, 2024, Høiby has no royal title or official duties and had reportedly cooperated with investigators throughout the ensuing investigation.

The Oslo Police District released a statement detailing the thorough nature of the inquiry, which included a multitude of witness interviews, multiple searches, and a review of stringent digital evidence. They highlighted that investigations had revealed a number of alleged victims but indicated that some cases had been dismissed due to the statute of limitations and challenges in gathering sufficient evidence.

Prosecutors are now poised to make a decision on whether to file formal charges. Meanwhile, the Royal House of Norway has acknowledged that the case is progressing through the legal system, but declined to comment further on the developments.
