A Russian drone and missile strike on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv has killed at least one person and injured seven others, city officials say.
Early on Saturday morning residential buildings in several districts were hit and loud explosions could be heard across the city.
Kyiv's mayor Vitaly Klitschko said a 13-year-old child was among the injured and four people had been taken to hospital.
Earlier this week a similar attack on Kyiv killed seven people, Ukrainian officials reported. The latest bombardment came as Ukrainian negotiators were preparing for talks with US officials this weekend on an amended US peace plan.
The head of Kyiv's military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed Saturday's strike hit multiple targets on the capital's outskirts.
Enemy drones are over the city, with air defense responding, he wrote on Telegram.
The body of a man was recovered by rescuers in the Sviatoshynskyi district west of the city, according to Tkachenko.
Two women were among the wounded in the town of Brovary east of Kyiv, where missiles and drones targeted residential areas.
Klitschko stated that the strike ignited a fire in the lower floors of a high-rise apartment block west of the city center, while another fire was controlled in a central district.
Earlier this week, Russia and Ukraine traded deadly strikes overnight, setting fire to apartment buildings and claiming lives on both sides.
Saturday's act of aggression came amid President Donald Trump's push for the two sides to accept a draft peace plan, which had initially favored Moscow's demands but was revised during negotiations in Geneva.
Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated core demands for ending the war, which include a withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territories claimed by Moscow.
Zelensky addressed the situation, stating that the aim of the upcoming negotiators is to bring the points discussed in Geneva into a tangible form that could lead to peace and security guarantees for Ukraine.
