Five individuals have been detained by Greek authorities in connection to the murder of Przemyslaw Jeziorski, a prominent professor at the University of California, Berkeley. The incident occurred on July 4 in a suburb of Athens, where Jeziorski was shot multiple times. Among the arrested are Jeziorski’s ex-wife and her current boyfriend, both of whom have yet to be named publicly.
During a court appearance on Thursday, the suspects faced serious charges of intentional homicide in relation to the shooting of the 43-year-old professor, who specialized in quantitative marketing at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Born in Poland, Jeziorski was known to his peers as "Przemek." His murder took place in Agia Paraskevi, where he was reportedly ambushed and shot in the chest and back while meeting with his young children.
Details have emerged that suggest custody disputes between Jeziorski and his ex-wife, a Greek national, may be entwined with the case. Her lawyer has asserted that she had no involvement in the killing, denying any custody conflict between the former spouses. Meanwhile, the lawyer for the boyfriend acknowledged his client’s acceptance of responsibility for the murder, but no further details were revealed at this time.
Jeziorski's tragic death comes at a time when he was making arrangements for future visitation rights with his children, highlighting a personal struggle that may have influenced the dire events surrounding his murder.
