This election cycle, his party was unable to endorse candidates due to a lack of representation. Joining forces with the Manidem party, which is represented at the local level, Kamto aimed to enter the race again. Meanwhile, Biya is set to be challenged by former allies while also facing Kamto's junior contemporaries like anti-corruption lawyer Akere Muna and the Social Democratic Front leader Joshua Osih. The only female candidate is Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya, the mayor of Foumban.

Disqualified candidates have a window of two days to appeal the decision. As the electoral landscape continues to shift, the political implications in Cameroon remain critical, particularly given the country's turbulent history in governance.
