In a peculiar twist, a bronze statue depicting Melania Trump has disappeared from its location near Sevnica, Slovenia, her hometown. The statue, a life-size representation that once stood proudly just 15 minutes away from the town, was reported stolen this week, although the exact timing of the theft remains unclear according to police spokeswoman Alenka Drenik.

An active investigation is underway, with local residents expressing a mix of concern and bemusement over the statue's fate. The small community of approximately 5,000 people has its theories, with some suspecting it may have been a vandalism act, while others believe it could have been stolen and melted down for its bronze value. Interestingly, none of the townsfolk assume that the statue's removal is politically motivated.

Among the residents, Igor Pavkovic shared his thoughts, stating, “Melania is rarely seen in the spotlight or anywhere else”, reflecting a general indifference towards the statue, which was originally carved from wood before being transformed into bronze in 2019. The artist used a chainsaw to create a rough replication of Trump, which raised doubts about its artistry and appeal over time.

Having left Slovenia in 1985, Melania Trump has not made any public appearances in Sevnica since, and the town's mixed feelings about her likeness suggest a complex relationship with the image of the former first lady. Now, as the police investigate the statue’s disappearance, the query remains: what happened to Melania Trump’s statue?
