In brief
A 39-year-old British man, previously a convicted sex offender, has been charged after attempting to stage a mock wedding with a minor at Disneyland Paris. Authorities are investigating how he managed to book this private event using false identity documents.
The man, whose identity has not been released, attempted to conduct the suspicious ceremony early Saturday morning before the park opened. A prosecutor, Jean-Baptiste Bladier, reported that the event was intended to include numerous paid actors posing as guests. However, the park staff quickly intervened upon realizing the “bride” was a child.Bladier outlined that the suspect utilized stolen Latvian identification along with fabricated documents to secure the private reservation, disguising his appearance. In addition to facing charges of fraud, identity theft, and money laundering, he has also been recognized as an assisted witness in an inquiry into the potential corruption of a minor. This unsettling incident has triggered urgent discussions around the framework of security protocols that allowed a registered sex offender to organize such an event in a prominent family-oriented venue.
