The CEO who snatched a boy's hat at the US Open has expressed deep remorse, labeling the act a 'huge mistake.' Piotr Szczerek, the Polish chief of a paving firm, clarified that he was under the impression that tennis star Kamil Majchrzak had been handing the hat in his direction.

Szczerek stated in a public apology, I know I did something that seemed like consciously collecting a memento from a child. This wasn't my intention, but it doesn't change the fact that I hurt the boy and disappointed the fans. The incident sparked widespread criticism after it was captured on video during Majchrzak's match.

After receiving backlash, Szczerek reiterated his apology on social media, emphasizing regret for the distress caused to the boy and his family, as well as to the player. He reportedly returned the hat to the young fan, hoping to mitigate the negative impact of his actions.

Majchrzak, who recently triumphed over Russian ninth seed Karen Khachanov, remarked on the incident, attributing it to a moment of confusion amid the emotional atmosphere following his victory. He expressed understanding towards Szczerek's actions and remarked, I just missed it. I had like a dead look, if you know what I mean. I'm sure the guy was also acting in the moment of heat.

The tennis star later reunited with the boy, sharing a touching moment on Instagram, where he gave him a new cap and merchandise. Today after warm up, I had a nice meeting, wrote Majchrzak, expressing joy over the interaction.

Despite the controversy, Majchrzak continued his campaign at the US Open, showcasing his resilience in overcoming obstacles on and off the court.
