President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil is currently recovering in São Paulo after undergoing emergency surgery to address bleeding in his skull. The medical team overseeing his care has reported that the president is stable and progressing well in his recovery following what was described as an “uneventful” surgical procedure. The surgery was performed to alleviate symptoms from a hematoma believed to be linked to a fall the 79-year-old president suffered at home in October. Upon admission to Hospital Sírio-Libanês in Brasília, Lula was feeling ill and experiencing a severe headache. An MRI scan confirmed that he was suffering from an intracranial hemorrhage, necessitating his transfer to a specialized facility in São Paulo for surgical intervention.Doctor Roberto Kalil, a member of the surgical team, stated that Lula has shown promising signs of recovery. He is now stable, alert, and able to communicate normally, which includes eating and engaging in conversation. The operation lasted approximately two hours, and Dr. Kalil assured that there were no adverse effects on Lula's cognitive functions or mobility. As Lula continues his recovery, he will remain under observation in the intensive care unit for at least the next 48 hours. The medical team expressed optimism regarding his condition as they monitor his healing progress closely.
