Mish and Lucy, a pair of 5-year-old European brown bears, recently warmed hearts while causing quite a stir at a wildlife sanctuary in Devon, England. Known for their friendly demeanor, the bear siblings typically enjoy a diet of fruits, nuts, and perhaps a little honey now and then. However, on a recent afternoon, they found themselves on an unexpected adventure when they escaped from their enclosure. In a scene likened to a charming children’s tale, Mish and Lucy made their way to the sanctuary's storage area and devoured an entire week’s worth of honey in just about an hour. The bear escapade was captured by surveillance cameras, showing the clever Lucy as she skillfully accessed the food container.Mark Habben, the director of zoological operations at Wildwood Trust, received a "code red" alert while working at the organization’s other location in Kent. Initially thinking it was a drill, he quickly realized the seriousness of the situation and activated emergency protocols. Staff guided 16 guests into a safe area as local police were notified, although both bears remained well-contained and posed no immediate risk to the public.Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, and the bears’ antics have become a light-hearted story that continues to amuse guests and staff alike at the sanctuary. Mish and Lucy have since returned safely to their enclosure, reminding everyone of the joy and unpredictability that nature can bring.
