NEW YORK - Actor Blake Lively and director Justin Baldoni attended a court session on Wednesday aimed at resolving Lively's lawsuit alleging sexual harassment during the filming of the romantic drama It Ends With Us. However, the six-hour settlement talks concluded without an agreement.
Lively and Baldoni departed separately from the Manhattan federal courthouse, with Lively displaying a stern demeanor while Baldoni was seen smiling. His attorney, Bryan Freedman, confirmed via email that the discussions did not yield any resolution.
Settlement negotiations are typically mandated before advancing a civil trial and are confidential. The protracted litigation involving Lively and Baldoni has captured significant media attention, drawing various celebrities into the unfolding narrative around power and gender dynamics within Hollywood.
The lawsuit initially filed by Lively claims that both Baldoni and his crisis communications expert engaged in harassment and orchestrated a smear campaign against her following her complaints regarding Baldoni's conduct on set. Baldoni, in turn, filed a countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion; however, that suit was dismissed by Judge Lewis J. Liman in June.
With a trial scheduled for May 18 that is expected to feature numerous high-profile witnesses, Lively's legal team anticipates input from several celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, and Gigi Hadid, among others.
