MrBeast's media company has been sued by a former employee over claims of sexual harassment and workplace gender bias.
The 27-year-old, real name Jimmy Donaldson, is the world's most-followed YouTuber and employs more than 500 people.
Lorrayne Mavromatis, a former executive who worked for his company Beast Industries between 2022 and 2025, alleged harassment of women employees was 'condoned' and complaints were not taken seriously at the business.
A representative for Beast Industries described the allegations as 'categorically false' in a response to BBC Newsbeat.
Mavromatis initially joined the company as its head of Instagram before being promoted. She claims she was dismissed after raising concerns about a workplace lacking basic employment protections.
The lawsuit alleges that sexual harassment of female employees was 'both condoned and/or perpetuated by their supervisors' and notes that she experienced differential treatment compared to her male counterparts.
Mavromatis alleges her complaints were dismissed as 'unsubstantiated' when she reported the hostile environment affecting her and other women. One instance cited in the lawsuit includes her inquiring why Donaldson wouldn’t collaborate with her on some projects, to which a former CEO allegedly remarked on her attractiveness and its impact on Donaldson.
Following her complaints, Mavromatis claims she was swiftly demoted and effectively assigned to a role referred to internally as the 'graveyard role'. Additionally, she was terminated shortly after returning from pregnancy-related leave, being told she was 'too high-calibre' for her position.
Mavromatis states she has endured 'mental anguish, humiliation, embarrassment' and seeks compensation for lost wages, benefits, and other damages.
In defense, Beast Industries has labeled the claims a 'clout-chasing complaint', asserting they have substantial evidence that refutes Mavromatis' allegations.
This lawsuit is just one of multiple controversies involving Donaldson, who has faced prior legal challenges regarding his media ventures.
