Singer Chappell Roan says she has left the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman, whose name appears in the Epstein files.

Announcing her split with the agency, Roan stated that she has a duty to protect her team and that her decision was motivated by the belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability.

Wasserman has faced criticism after flirtatious emails he exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell were released among documents related to the now-convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. However, Roan did not reference Epstein or the emails directly in her statement on Instagram announcing her departure.

As of today, Roan is no longer represented by Wasserman, expressing that no artist, agent, or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values. The BBC has reached out to Wasserman for comment on this matter.

Wasserman, who is also the chairman of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, has seen calls for his resignation, with his earlier correspondence with Maxwell drawing public scrutiny.

He expressed regret about the emails, stating that those discussions took place long before Maxwell's crimes were known, adding that he has never had a personal relationship with Epstein.

Roan's departure comes alongside similar statements from other artists linked to Wasserman, with some bands voicing their discontent over his association with Maxwell and Epstein.
