Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced he will pause the province's anti-tariff advertisement campaign in the U.S., following backlash from President Donald Trump that halted trade talks between the two nations.
After discussing the situation with Prime Minister Mark Carney, Ford stated the advertisement would be paused starting Monday, allowing trade negotiations to resume. However, the ad will still air over the weekend on U.S. networks, including during Major League Baseball World Series games.
In recent statements, Carney expressed Canada's readiness to continue trade discussions whenever the U.S. is prepared to engage.
Trump criticized the advertisement as FAKE on a Truth Social post, declaring, HEREBY TERMINATED. The advertisement features a quote from former President Ronald Reagan, a notable figure in U.S. conservatism, which asserts that tariffs hurt every American.
