RIO RICO, Ariz. — Authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate the missing Nancy Guthrie after a week of limited progress in the investigation. The FBI has released new surveillance footage showing a masked individual approaching her front door shortly before her disappearance, triggering a renewed urgency in the case.
On February 1st, Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her home near Tucson, Arizona. The FBI has since detained a person for questioning during a traffic stop south of Tucson, though details about the suspect remain scarce as the investigation continues. Local sources suggest the individual was initially a deliverer who was released after hours of questioning.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has stated that a court-authorized search is underway in Rio Rico, with authorities combing through potential evidence in the hopes of uncovering information about Guthrie’s whereabouts.
Family members, including her daughter Savannah Guthrie, have expressed desperation through a series of public video statements, pleading for the safe return of their mother and indicating a willingness to negotiate with potential abductors. Savannah stated that they believe their mother is still alive, emphasizing the family's urgency to hear from those holding her.
The community has rallied support, with neighbors lighting candles outside her home and offering their thoughts and prayers.
Despite concerns for Nancy's health and wellbeing—she requires medication for her limited mobility—investigators believe she was forcibly taken from her residence. The release of the surveillance footage showcasing the masked person has sparked new interest, and authorities are hopeful it may lead to vital pieces of information.
As the search intensifies, investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward, hoping for fresh leads that could bring the Guthrie family the closure they desperately seek.
