GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida has announced the deactivation of the campus chapter of the College Republicans due to reports of antisemitism among its members. This decision follows an alert from the Florida Federation of College Republicans, which indicated that the Gainesville chapter had been disbanded because of conduct violating the federation’s rules and values. It marks the second such action involving a Republican group in Florida this month, as the Florida International University launched an investigation into a group chat that contained violently racist slurs, antisemitic comments, and misogynistic language involving students and conservative leaders.
UF officials stated that they would assist in reactivating the chapter with new student leadership once the federation is ready. This situation reflects a growing concern over racial and ethnic discrimination on college campuses, prompting educational institutions to take firmer stands against such behavior in student organizations.
