Guo, 19, has been attempting to complete his ambitious goal of flying around the globe to raise $1 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital after a family member's cancer diagnosis. He successfully visited six continents but was detained shortly after landing on King George Island, which hosts various international research stations. Authorities initially cited him for submitting an inaccurate flight plan and unauthorized landing, but a judge dismissed these charges, instead mandating a $30,000 donation to a children’s cancer foundation and a three-year ban from Chile.

As the young pilot anxiously waits for flight approval to leave the frigid island, he expressed hopes of resuming his mission soon. Guo has spent the last six weeks at a military base and stated, “I sincerely hope they give it to me soon so that I and my plane can continue with my original mission.” His journey, which included 140 days of flying, aims to raise vital funds and awareness for cancer research amidst a challenging ordeal in one of the world's most isolated environments.
