A drone attack on the town of Kalogi, in Sudan's South Kordofan region, is reported to have hit a kindergarten, killing at least 50 people, including 33 children.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group engaged in conflict against the army, were accused of the attack by medical organizations and the army.
Accusations flew as the RSF retaliated, blaming the army for a separate drone strike in Darfur targeting a marketplace.
The conflict in Sudan has been escalating since April 2023, following a power struggle between the RSF and the army.
Reports indicate that the kindergarten was struck twice by missile fire from drones, leading to civilian casualties and further assaults on medics rushing to aid the victims.
UNICEF spokesperson Sheldon Yett condemned the attack, emphasizing the unacceptable violation of children's rights and calling for the cessation of violence to allow aid access.
The RSF claimed the strike on the Adre crossing was for disrupting humanitarian supply routes.
As one of the major fronts in the civil war, the Kordofan region is experiencing intensified conflict, with the military making significant advances toward Darfur.
