In November 2018, Steve Bannon, former chief strategist for Donald Trump, was preparing for a speech at the Oxford Union in the UK. His plans were disrupted by protests, and in an email to Jeffrey Epstein, Bannon expressed concern about missing his flight due to the commotion. Epstein promptly suggested an alternative flight option, prompting Bannon to commend him as an amazing assistant.
This exchange is part of a broader release of over 20,000 documents from Epstein's estate, which has raised questions about his connections with high-profile individuals. The House oversight committee made these documents public, revealing additional communications, including a redacted iMessage chat where Bannon's identity was established based on contextual clues.
Notably, Epstein's remarks in some messages hint at a more personal relationship, referring to himself jokingly as Bannon's highly paid travel agent, while expressing intent to ensure Bannon was well taken care of during travels.
Bannon, who has been linked to a documentary on Epstein, did not respond to requests for comment. The new revelations may suggest that the nature of his relationship with Epstein was deeper than that of a biographer and subject.
Further discussions between Bannon and Epstein revealed their engagement in UK politics around the time of Brexit. Bannon indicated in text messages that he was caught up in political discussions involving figures such as Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson, mentioning the dynamics surrounding then-Prime Minister Theresa May.
The intrigue surrounding Epstein's relationships with various public figures has resurfaced, especially following the recent document release, and has led to calls for further investigation into his connections, including those with former President Trump.
