MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin woman who pleaded guilty to attempted homicide related to the Slender Man stabbing incident in 2014 is currently missing after cutting off her electronic monitoring device and leaving a group home. Morgan Geyser, now 23, was last seen around 8 p.m. Saturday with an adult acquaintance, igniting a police search for her. Authorities issued an alert urging anyone who sees Geyser to call 911.
Geyser was placed in a group home this year after being granted conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, where she was admitted in 2018. She, along with her friend Anissa Weier, made headlines for luring their classmate Payton Leutner to a Milwaukee park under the pretense of a sleepover, where Geyser reportedly stabbed Leutner more than a dozen times. The justification given by the girls was a belief that committing the act would earn them the right to serve the Slender Man, a fictional character born from internet folklore.
Leutner survived the brutal attack, whereas Geyser and Weier faced legal repercussions. Weier was also sent to a psychiatric facility after pleading guilty to attempted second-degree intentional homicide and was granted release in 2021.
