One dead, five injured after shots fired at overnight rave near Aarau

A tragic event unfolded in northern Switzerland last night as a series of gunshots pierced the night air at a rave held in the vicinity of the Schachen horse racing track, close to the town of Aarau.

Swiss police confirmed that one person died and five others sustained injuries in the attack, but the motive and the identity of the shooter remain unknown.

The Aargau Cantonal Police are conducting a man‑hunt for the perpetrator, with authorities saying the circumstances are still unclear.

Police patrols have been deployed in the area, while investigations to clarify "possible motives and the exact circumstances of the crime" are underway.

Local media reported that the rave was running into the early hours of Sunday, bringing large crowds into the area, which is just 46 kilometres west of Zurich.
