Texas Faces Devastating Flood Reemergence: One Fatality Confirmed

At least one person has been confirmed dead as flooding erupts across central Texas, the same region that experienced over 130 casualties in the July 2025 flash floods.

The Guadalupe River has surged 32 ft within a four‑hour span, wreaking havoc throughout Uvalde, Kerr and Kendall counties. Residents were urged early Thursday to evacuate by emergency officials, while the National Weather Service warned that the river would continue to rise.

Governor Greg Abbott posted an update via social media, stating that the state had conducted about 80 rescues and that the death was not a camper but a resident. He reiterated that “code telling you to move to higher ground” will continue as the waters climb.

The area, historically vulnerable to sudden storm surges, witnessed last summer’s tragedy at Camp Mystic, where 25 girls were swept away when the river rose 26 ft within 45 minutes. The camp is currently closed for the year and has filed for bankruptcy.

Numerous rescue teams are deployed as the weather system remains hostile, with weather forecasters urging residents to seek safety immediately.
