Buildings swept away as flash floods hit central Nepal
Flash floods have swept across central Nepal, destroying homes, bridges and damaging a hydropower project along the Budhi Gandaki River.
The army reported rescuing 49 people from affected areas, while five remain missing, the district's top official said.
Experts believe the flood was triggered by a landslide upstream in the Gorkha district.
Four bridges and nearly two dozen houses were swept away, along with a camp at a nearby hydropower site.
Central Nepal is still in recovery from catastrophic floods and landslides that struck border towns with Tibet two months ago, killing thousands and destroying vital energy infrastructure.
