FKA Twigs, the British singer-songwriter, and Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf have come to an agreement in the lawsuit filed by Twigs in 2020, which accused LaBeouf of various forms of abuse. Their respective legal teams confirmed that the settlement terms will remain confidential.

In the joint statement, both parties indicated a desire for peace and personal happiness moving forward: “Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court.” This development marks the conclusion of a case that has seen little advancement over the past five years.

Initially, Twigs, known formally as Tahliah Debrett Barnett, sought to dismiss her claims with prejudice, preventing any future filings against LaBeouf. The trial, which had been scheduled for last year, was postponed multiple times.

Barnett alleged in her 2020 filings that her relationship with LaBeouf was marked by “relentless abuse,” detailing instances of verbal harassment that escalated to physical violence. She recounted deeply troubling events, including being awakened in the middle of the night and experiencing physical confrontations.

In a revealing 2021 interview on BBC Radio 4’s Grounded podcast, Barnett shared how the relationship left her with lasting mental trauma and PTSD, emphasizing the struggle she faced in reclaiming her sense of self after the abuse. LaBeouf has publicly denied numerous allegations made against him, acknowledging his past abusive behavior and expressing remorse for the pain he caused.

LaBeouf, who has repeatedly stated that many allegations against him are untrue, accepted accountability for his past actions and conveyed his sorrow to Barnett and another woman involved in similar claims. Both individuals are navigating their careers post-settlement, with Twigs releasing her album “Eusexua” earlier this year, earning accolades, and LaBeouf featuring in the crime drama “Henry Johnson.”
