President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied allegations by Russia that Ukraine launched a drone attack on one of President Vladimir Putin's residences, accusing Moscow of trying to derail peace talks.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed Kyiv had launched an attack using 91 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Putin's residence in the northwestern Novgorod region. He stated that all drones were intercepted and there were no casualties or damages reported.
Zelensky dismissed the attack claims as typical Russian lies, aimed at providing excuses for continued attacks on Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of the world not remaining silent and preventing Russia from undermining efforts for a lasting peace.
Russia's assertions come in the wake of discussions in Florida between U.S. President Trump and President Zelensky regarding a revised peace plan, which includes U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine for 15 years.
Zelensky expressed concerns regarding territorial disputes and the situation surrounding the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, indicating these as critical points yet to be resolved.
The situation remains tense as Russia controls significant parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and Moscow's Foreign Ministry indicated that it would reassess its position in peace negotiations.
Despite this, the Kremlin maintains that it will not withdraw from talks with the U.S. regarding the conflict.
