In brief

A recent health report states that President Trump is in excellent overall health following an extensive physical examination. The memo highlighted his active lifestyle and cognitive abilities, with no signs of mental health issues, despite some minor skin conditions.

US President Donald Trump is reportedly in "excellent cognitive and physical health", as affirmed by his White House physician, Captain Sean Barbabella, following an extensive medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. This examination marked the first annual physical during Trump's second presidential term and included thorough tests such as blood work, cardiac evaluation, and neurological functions.Barbabella’s memo detailed that at 78 years old, Trump continues to demonstrate strong physical vitality and mental prowess, stating, "President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function." The report also noted that Trump has maintained an active lifestyle, which significantly contributes to his well-being.Interestingly, Trump's memo disclosed a notable detail—he has "scarring on the right ear from a gunshot wound" sustained during an assassination attempt last July. In addition to this, the exam uncovered that he has "minor sun damage" and several benign skin lesions.Trump underwent a Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and achieved a perfect score of 30 out of 30, which is utilized to evaluate cognitive health and identify early signs of dementia, involving tasks such as animal naming, clock drawing, and word recall. Reflecting on his health, Trump humorously remarked he "got every answer right" and felt he had a "good heart" and a "very good soul." The doctor’s memo reports no indications of mental distress, with thorough neurological tests showing no signs of depression or anxiety. Trump does manage several medications to address cholesterol and prevent cardiac issues, and his current weight is 224 pounds, which is a decrease from his weight of 243 pounds in February 2019.The examination represents the first publicly available health report since the aforementioned assassination attempt. During his first presidential term, Trump had previously faced criticism regarding his physical health, particularly about his weight and exercise habits. In the ongoing political landscape, Trump's health evaluations often serve as focal points, particularly as he underscores competitors' health, such as President Joe Biden's cognitive abilities on the campaign trail.
