In brief

Meghan Markle's latest venture, an online shop called ShopMy, allows fans to buy her favorite clothing and accessories, showcasing her blend of high-end and affordable fashion while generating sales commissions for herself.

The Duchess of Sussex has taken her fashion influence a step further by launching an online shop that allows her followers to purchase her favorite clothing, accessories, and jewelry. This initiative, introduced via a ShopMy link to her 2.6 million Instagram followers, enables Meghan to share her personal style while earning commissions on certain product sales. During her recent Netflix series, Meghan described her 'high-low' style, which combines both designer and accessible fashion, and the new online platform is a manifestation of that ethos. She emphasized that the collection is a "handpicked and curated" assortment of items she adores, reiterating that fans have long requested insights into her wardrobe inspiration. Historically, pieces worn by the Duchess have often flown off the shelves almost instantly; for instance, a white coat by Canadian brand Line the Label worn during her engagement announcement to Prince Harry in November 2017 sold out quickly, causing a crash in the brand’s website. Similarly, a month later, a £500 ($675) tote bag by Strathberry sold out within just 11 minutes of her being photographed with it.The initial 32-piece collection released on Monday showcases a capsule wardrobe composed predominantly of neutral colors such as white, beige, light blue, and black, crafted from natural materials including linen and cashmere. Among the featured items are a classic white cotton t-shirt, a striped blue "boyfriend" shirt, white linen trousers, a formal black wool blazer, and a stunning ivory evening dress. The collection represents a combination of high street and luxury brands, including Theory, Reformation, and Madewell, alongside budget-friendly options, like a £99 Uniqlo trench coat.ShopMy claims that commissions can vary from 10 to 30% based on the retailer, and it aids creators by connecting them with over 47,000 brands for potential paid collaborative opportunities. Meghan’s latest business endeavor coincides with the recent success of her Netflix lifestyle show, which offers glimpses into her daily life, including social interactions, gardening, and culinary adventures. The Duchess also previously started a lifestyle brand named As Ever, formerly known as American Riviera Orchard, promoting well-crafted essentials like artisan preserves and teas. Meghan has a history in the lifestyle arena; she ran a popular blog called The Tig for nearly three years before shutting it down in April 2017, just before her engagement was publicized. The blog featured a variety of content including beauty, diet, fashion tips, recipes, travel advice, and reflections on love and life.
