Legendary fashion designer Giorgio Armani, a towering figure in the fashion industry, will not be gracing Milan Fashion Week with his presence this season for the very first time. The 90-year-old icon is currently recuperating at home following a short hospital stay in Milan, as reported by Italian media outlets.

In an official statement, Armani's company revealed that despite his absence, he had "worked with usual dedication on the collections" that will showcase the Spring-Summer 2026 designs. The shows are set to take place over the weekend, with menswear presentations lined up for Saturday and Monday, which the celebrated designer plans to monitor remotely.

Recognized for his impeccable taste and pioneering contributions to fashion over the last 50 years, Armani's absence marks a notable moment in his illustrious career. Last year, he hinted at the prospect of retirement in the coming years, raising questions about his future appearances.

Stepping in to oversee the closing bows of the show is León Dell'Orco, Armani's long-time collaborator and head of menswear design. The brand, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next month, will see Dell'Orco lead the runway in a tribute to their shared legacy.

Armani reportedly remains in good spirits and is anticipated to return for upcoming shows in Paris at the end of June, funneling hope into his future engagements. Born in 1934 in Piacenza, Italy, Armani transitioned from a medical background to revolutionize the fashion world with his personal label, launched with late partner Sergio Galeotti in 1975.

His empire has expanded immensely, encompassing haute couture, ready-to-wear fashion, accessories, beauty products, and luxury hotels across major global cities such as Milan, Paris, and New York. As Armani approaches his 91st birthday, the fashion community reflects on his outstanding contributions and the enduring legacy he continues to build.
