In a significant step towards ensuring her safety, actress and singer Halle Bailey has obtained a restraining order against her former boyfriend, rapper and YouTube star Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., known as DDG. The order comes after Bailey alleged a series of abusive behaviors from Granberry, causing her to fear for her own safety and that of their one-year-old son, Halo.On Tuesday, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Granberry must maintain a distance from both Bailey and their child until a further hearing scheduled for June 6. According to court documents, Bailey, 25, detailed "multiple acts of physical violence" that occurred during their relationship, which lasted from 2022 until their split in October of last year. Bailey described a particularly violent incident in January, when Granberry allegedly became aggressive while she was securing their baby in a car seat. She claimed, "We fought each other, wrestling and tussling," and further alleged he pulled her hair and slammed her face against the steering wheel, resulting in a chipped tooth.In her filing, Bailey presented evidence of the alleged abuse, including photographs showing her injuries, such as bruises and her chipped tooth. The documents reveal eerie details of Granberry’s alleged harassment, including an incident where he entered her home while she was away, sending her a threatening message accompanied by a photo of her bed.The troubling incidents continued when Granberry supposedly reacted violently upon being denied visitation with their sick child, and even damaged property belonging to Bailey, such as smashing her doorbell camera. Following an altercation in which he reportedly slammed a car door on her while she was holding the baby, Bailey filed a police report to document the escalation of his behavior.The restraining order also includes a condition barring Granberry from possessing any weapons. Additionally, Bailey requested that Granberry cease using his substantial social media presence to spread false claims about her. In her plea, she shares, "He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men," which has led to intense online harassment and threats directed at her.Bailey, who rose to fame as part of the musical duo Chloe x Halle and has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, is also known for her acting work, including her recent leading role in Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid.
