Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the U.S. is pushing for an end to the ongoing war with Russia by June, revealing plans for peace negotiations next week involving both parties in Miami.
The U.S. has encouraged Ukraine and Russia to send their negotiating teams to discussions, marking a significant step towards resolving the lingering conflict. Zelensky affirmed Ukraine’s commitment to attending this crucial meeting.
Despite the diplomatic efforts, the situation on the ground remains dire as Russia continues to launch attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Multiple facilities have been targeted, with significant disruptions to power supply reported across the country, leaving many citizens without electricity amidst freezing temperatures.
Zelensky conveyed frustrations over difficult territorial negotiations that are still unresolved. He remarked, Difficult issues remain difficult, emphasizing the need for preparatory elements for any meaningful dialogue to take place.
As the conflict progresses, the humanitarian crisis deepens. Reports indicate that at least 6,000 Ukrainians are currently without power due to the ongoing assaults, and many are forced to take shelter in metro stations to escape airstrikes.
In light of these attacks, Zelensky has been vocal in urging the international community to help keep the pressure on Russia, insisting that the country must not exploit the harsh winter conditions to its advantage.
