GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) — In a troubling incident on Wednesday morning, federal immigration agents engaged in a shooting during an enforcement and removal operation in Glen Burnie, Maryland. The altercation involved agents and a moving van, resulting in injuries to two individuals.

According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, reports of the shooting came in around 10:50 a.m. Local authorities reported that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were the sole officials engaged in the shooting.

Preliminary details indicate that the agents approached a white van, which then attempted to run them over. In response, the agents fired at the vehicle, which accelerated away and eventually halted in a wooded area.

Neither of the individuals injured in the incident sustained life-threatening injuries and were subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.

The Anne Arundel police will be conducting an investigation into the shooting, while the FBI will look into the alleged assault on the agents. Additionally, ICE is expected to carry out its own internal review of the incident.
