Kevin Spacey has agreed to an out-of-court settlement with three men who had sued him after accusing the actor of sexual assault.
The civil cases were set to go to trial at the High Court later this year, but those proceedings have now been frozen following the settlement.
The allegations against Spacey date back to between 2000 and 2013. The Oscar-winning actor, now 66, has consistently denied any wrongdoing and was acquitted of nine sexual offence charges during a criminal trial in 2023.
Two of the accusers who filed civil cases were also involved in the earlier criminal trial. One, identified as LNP, alleged that Spacey deliberately assaulted him on approximately twelve occasions between 2000 and 2005. Another, referred to as GHI, claimed he suffered psychological and financial harm due to an assault in 2008 after meeting Spacey through a workshop at London's Old Vic theatre, where Spacey served as artistic director from 2004 until 2013.
The third accuser, Ruari Cannon, opted to waive his anonymity. He accused Spacey of groping him at a party following a performance of Tennessee Williams' play Sweet Bird of Youth at the Old Vic in 2013. Cannon also participated in a Channel 4 documentary titled Spacey Unmasked in 2024, speaking on his experiences.
Spacey described Cannon's accusation as ridiculous and insisted it never occurred. In a recent hearing, the plaintiffs requested to submit evidence from other alleged victims of similar abusive behavior to bolster their case. Cannon has since reached a separate settlement with the Old Vic theatre.
No financial details regarding the settlements between Spacey and his accusers have been disclosed.
