LOS ANGELES — Lonna Drewes has publicly accused Rep. Eric Swalwell of rape, alleging that he assaulted her in 2018 at a hotel in Southern California. During a press conference on Tuesday, Drewes disclosed her intention to file a report with law enforcement, stating, “I did not consent to any sexual activity.”

Drewes elaborated that after having a single glass of wine at a restaurant, she felt her limbs becoming heavy, leading her to suspect she had been drugged before the alleged assault occurred. Swalwell, who has recently announced his resignation from Congress amidst various allegations of sexual misconduct, is now facing serious legal scrutiny.

Drewes recounted that the alleged incident took place after they met at a restaurant opening and proceeded to Swalwell's hotel room under the pretense of retrieving paperwork. She mentioned that the night ended with Swalwell choking her, causing her to lose consciousness.

Swalwell's legal team has yet to respond to the allegations. Drewes' attorney, Lisa Bloom, indicated that she is collecting substantial evidence, including journal entries, text messages, and photographs, which will be included when the report is submitted to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

This allegation comes following Swalwell's announcement to exit the California governor's race, triggered by earlier claims of sexual misconduct including accusations of unwanted sexual advances toward other women.
