The body of Zamil Limon, a missing Bangladeshi doctoral student from the University of South Florida, was discovered on the Howard Frankland Bridge. His girlfriend, Nahida Bristy, is still unaccounted for. Authorities have arrested his roommate, Hisham Saleh Abugharbeih, on several preliminary charges, including unlawfully moving a dead body and failure to report a death. Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer emphasized their ongoing efforts to locate Bristy.
Incident reports revealed that officers encountered Abugharbeih when responding to a domestic violence call at his family’s nearby home. He initially barricaded himself but later surrendered to law enforcement. Limon and Bristy, both 27, were reportedly considering marriage and were last seen on April 16—the day they disappeared. Family concerns initially prompted authorities to intervene after friends could not reach the couple.
Investigators interviewed Abugharbeih, who has a history of previous arrests including incidents of battery and domestic violence. Despite these records, he recently completed a diversion program for misdemeanors. The ongoing investigation is focused on uncovering any further details surrounding Limon's death, with autopsy results expected soon.
This deeply unsettling case has prompted the sheriff to request the community's assistance in gathering information as they strive for clarity and justice.
