CARBONDALE, Kan. (AP) — A troubling incident unfolded Saturday morning in rural Kansas when four law enforcement officers were shot while responding to a domestic violence call near Carbondale, affecting both the officers and the local community. At approximately 10:30 a.m., the three Osage County sheriff’s deputies and one trooper from the Kansas Highway Patrol were caught in gunfire after arriving on the scene. According to Melissa Underwood, spokesperson for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the conditions of the injured officers are still ‘very fluid’.

Authorities confirmed the death of a male suspect due to gunshot wounds, while another male was injured and is currently reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital. A swift response from multiple law enforcement agencies followed the distress call, showcasing the seriousness of the situation.

The shooting took place in a rural region close to U.S. Highway 75, an area less populated but still part of the larger community.
