Whistleblower Reveals Hidden Ties Between Commerce Secretary and Jeffrey Epstein

Simon Andriesz, a former managing director at a Wall Street firm, uncovered a chain of emails from 2018 that linked Howard Lutnick—appointed U.S. commerce secretary in 2025—to the convicted sex‑offender Jeffrey Epstein. The emails showed that both men discussed the prospects of a start‑up called Adfin, in which they were both investors.

Andriesz alerted U.S. lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee before Lutnick’s scheduled appearance in May. He also revealed a 2013 plan by Lutnick’s firm, Cantor Fitzgerald, to provide a £1 million loan to a business controlled by Prince Andrew, a move that would have tied the prince’s clients exclusively to Cantor.

Lutnick has denied any wrongdoing, arguing he had only learned of Epstein’s investment in Adfin that year. The Commerce Department described the allegations as a partisan distraction, while Democrat members of the Committee demanded his resignation.

Andriesz’s own legal battles—over whistleblowing awards and claims of retaliation—have cost him a career and health, illustrating how powerful interests protect themselves and attack those who expose them. His case underscores the importance of transparency for safeguarding communities that rely on equitable and ethical business practices.
