Graham Greene, the renowned Canadian First Nations actor known for his role in the acclaimed film 'Dances With Wolves,' has sadly passed away at the age of 73, according to his manager.

His manager, Gerry Jordan, shared the news of Greene's peaceful passing, stating he died of natural causes. Greene's powerful performance in the 1990 film, where he portrayed Kicking Bird, earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

A member of the Oneida Nation from Southern Ontario's Six Nations Reserve, Greene's professional journey began in various occupations including draftsman and steelworker before he found his calling in theater during the 1970s in the UK.

Greene cherished the discipline of theater, noting its importance in character development during a 2012 interview. It helps you build a character. When you get into film, you don't have that luxury. The discipline of theater is what I recommend to all actors, he remarked.

His notable breakout role as Kicking Bird in 'Dances With Wolves' not only earned critical acclaim but also laid the foundation for his subsequent works in cinema, including significant roles in 'Thunderheart,' 'The Green Mile,' and 'Wind River.'

Throughout his impressive career, Greene received various honors, including the Earle Grey Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2004 and induction into the Order of Canada in 2016, reflecting his significant impact both in the arts and as a representation of Indigenous narratives in mainstream media.

As the world remembers Graham Greene, his contributions to the film industry and Indigenous representation will continue to inspire future generations.
