In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Camron Guthrie, the brother of U.S. news presenter Savannah Guthrie, has renewed the family's urgent plea for proof that their mother, Nancy, is still alive after her disappearance last weekend. Authorities believe the elderly woman, aged 84, was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona home during the night, prompting a widespread search effort.
The investigation has intensified following the receipt of alleged ransom notes, with an initial deadline for communication from the abductors passing without any contact. The FBI has become involved, reviewing the ransom messages that reportedly stipulated a 5 p.m. deadline for payment.
During the video, Camron Guthrie expressed deep concern, saying, We have to know that you have our mum. We want to talk to you. He emphasized the need for communication to ensure their mother’s safety.
Authorities have mobilized a major search operation, offering a reward of $50,000 for any information leading to an arrest. FBI Special Agent Heith Janke acknowledged the agency's focus on reviewing the ransom notes while keeping the details to a minimum for safety reasons.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has stated that the investigation is leaving no stone unturned, maintaining that they are operating under the assumption that Nancy Guthrie is still alive. As media coverage around her disappearance grows, Savannah and her siblings have also reached out directly to the potential abductors, offering their willingness to communicate and seeking reassurance of their mother’s well-being.
While the police continue their search and follow up on leads, they have urged the public to steer clear of spreading misinformation, reinforcing that any helpful insights could make a significant difference in this urgent case.
