Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas, a devoted nun from Brazil and recognized as the world's oldest person, has passed away at the age of 116 in Porto Alegre. A member of the Irmãs Teresianas Brasil religious community, she was revered for her dedication to service and her spiritual influence, which even garnered the acknowledgment of Pope Francis when she celebrated her 110th birthday.

Her congregation expressed gratitude for her remarkable life on social media and prayed for her eternal peace. Cause of death has not been officially stated; however, family members informed Brazilian media that she left this world due to natural causes associated with old age.

As Sister Inah aged, she experienced a decline in her sight and hearing but opted to delay medical procedures until she underwent a cataract operation at the age of 106. In January, she was crowned the world’s oldest living person by Guinness World Records following the death of Tomiko Itooka from Japan.

Born in a time of significant historical change, Sister Inah witnessed a plethora of monumental innovations throughout her lifetime. Her existence symbolizes resilience and the enduring spirit of humanity. While she is no longer with us, her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
