Rapper Scott Mescudi, widely recognized as Kid Cudi, took the witness stand on Thursday as the trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs continues, detailing a series of alarming events that he claims involved the prominent music mogul. Over approximately two hours of testimony, Mescudi alleged that Combs threatened him and was directly responsible for a Molotov cocktail attack that destroyed his Porsche.
Mescudi shared that he briefly dated Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2011, a relationship that seemed to ignite tensions between the rapper and the music mogul. He recounted a threatening phone call from Ventura, who expressed fear when Combs discovered their relationship. In a panic, Mescudi brought Ventura to a hotel for her safety. However, upon returning to his home, Mescudi was unnerved to find his security cameras misdirected and Christmas presents scattered throughout his home, which he claimed had been rifled through. Additionally, he found his dog distressed in the bathroom.
Mescudi’s testimony took a darker turn when he recounted an incident in January 2012, shortly after his relationship with Ventura ended. He received alarming news from his dogsitter that his car had been set ablaze with a Molotov cocktail. The rapper emotionally described returning home to discover charred remains of his Porsche, including a precise hole in the roof, indicative of the explosive attack. He directly accused Combs of being behind the act, which Combs has vehemently denied.
The courtroom proceedings also saw additional testimonies, including a makeup artist who described witnessing Ventura with evident injuries from a past altercation. The general manager of a hotel frequently used by Combs also gave insight into unusual cleaning requests, noting an excessive mess left behind, further painting a complex picture of Diddy’s lifestyle.
As the trial pauses for the Memorial Day weekend, the jury is set to hear more testimonies when it resumes next week, including that from a woman who reportedly called Mescudi when Combs was allegedly breaking into his home. Diddy faces serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, all of which he has denied.
