A horrific bus accident in South Africa's Limpopo province has led to the deaths of 42 people, primarily Zimbabwean and Malawian nationals. As the bus was transporting its passengers home, it overturned on a treacherous section of the N1 highway, plunging down an embankment, authorities reported.

The accident occurred on a Sunday night, resulting in a death toll that includes seven children. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed profound sorrow, emphasizing that this tragedy is not only a loss for South Africa but also for the 'sister states of Zimbabwe and Malawi'.

While the cause of the accident remains under investigation, details suggest that the bus was en route from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape. Among the deceased, there were 18 women and 17 men, and the crash left 49 individuals injured.

Transport Minister Barbara Creecy and other government officials are set to visit the site of the crash, as well as the injured passengers, ensuring support and investigation into this heartbreaking incident.
