Authorities have released security footage of a person of interest in the tragic shooting of an Ohio couple, Dr. Spencer Tepe, a 37-year-old dentist, and Monique Tepe, 39, who were found shot to death in their home during a wellness check on December 30.
Columbus police discovered the couple with gunshot wounds on the second floor of their residence around 10 a.m. Medical personnel pronounced them dead shortly thereafter. Fortunately, their two young children were also found unharmed in the home.
Investigation Underway
The investigation is still unfolding, with detectives working to determine who might have committed this crime and the motives behind it. Authorities suggest that the couple was shot between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on the morning they were found. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office reported that the cause of death appeared to be homicide, though official conclusions will take additional time.
Security Footage Released
On Monday, police shared security footage showing a person of interest walking in an alley near the Tepe home during the period they believe the attack occurred. The individual was reportedly dressed in light-colored pants and a dark hooded jacket. Authorities are seeking help from the public to identify this person.
“We know there are questions and concerns surrounding this tragic incident,” a police spokesperson stated, affirming that detectives are working diligently to resolve the case.
A Heartbroken Community
Family members have expressed their profound grief, describing Spencer and Monique as “extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love, joy, and deep connection to others.” Spencer graduated from Ohio State University, was a member of the American Dental Association, and actively participated in community organizations such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters. His family noted his passion for his favorite sports teams.
Monique was remembered as a loving mother, an enthusiastic baker, and a dedicated planner. “They were the proud parents of two beautiful children, and every day they showed up with unwavering love and devotion to their family,” said a cousin, Audrey Mackie.
