A Russian strike has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a town west of Kharkiv, a Ukrainian official says.

Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that two boys, both aged 1, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone hit a house they were inside.

A 35-year-old pregnant woman and a 76-year-old woman sustained injuries in the strike on Bohodukhiv, Synegubov added.

This attack, which occurred on Tuesday night, comes as Moscow resumes its airstrikes after a week-long pause, coinciding with extremely cold weather affecting Ukraine.

In a separate instance, Russian forces targeted the city of Slovyansk with seven bomb strikes around noon on Tuesday, resulting in additional casualties, including an 11-year-old girl.

Earlier in the week, Bohodukhiv had already been attacked, leading to power outages affecting tens of thousands across the country.

A state of emergency has been declared in the Kharkiv region due to ongoing military pressure and the deteriorating energy situation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has characterized the recent spike in assaults as part of a strategic effort by Russian forces to disrupt infrastructure with a record number of missile strikes.

Amidst these developments, discussions regarding a potential end to the war have emerged as both sides are set to meet in the US next week.
