LOGAN, Utah – Following the shocking assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, the organization is determined to push forward with its college tour, making a stop at Utah State University on Tuesday. This marks the first event in the state since Kirk was tragically killed while addressing students at Utah Valley University early this month.
The incident, where a gunman opened fire while Kirk was speaking, has inspired a wave of support among conservatives nationwide. Many view Kirk as a martyr in the fight for conservative values, prompting renewed interest in the organization with a surge of requests to establish new chapters in schools across the country.
This upcoming event, initially planned before the tragedy, will highlight the efforts of Turning Point USA to redefine its vision in the absence of its charismatic leader. Erika Kirk, who now oversees the organization alongside her late husband’s former aides, is pledging to maintain the legacy and mission that Charlie Kirk established.
During her recent appearances, she expressed her commitment to sustaining Kirk's work, stating, We’re not going anywhere. We have the blueprints. We have our marching orders, emphasizing the importance of his voice continuing through their podcasts and unused material from his speeches.
The college tour has drawn significant conservative names to replace Kirk, including media personalities like Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly. These events have become emotional tributes to Kirk, where attendees are encouraged to engage in prayer sessions and discussions meant to inspire future generations of conservative leaders.
At a previous event at Virginia Tech, Virginia's Republican Governor, Glenn Youngkin, called on attendees to embody Kirk’s legacy, urging the crowd to focus on becoming the next leaders within the conservative movement. He highlighted Erika Kirk’s leadership as crucial for moving forward.
In the wake of Kirk’s death, discussions have also emerged regarding the need for unity within the conservative ranks. Some worry about potential fractures among differing factions, as Kirk was often seen as a vital figure who brought conservatives together.
As Turning Point USA moves ahead, it remains to be seen how they will redefine their narrative under Erika Kirk’s guidance, but one thing stands clear: Charley Kirk’s influence on the conservative movement endures, and his goals will continue to guide the path forward.
