R&B singer Chris Brown is currently remanded in custody after appearing in court for charges linked to an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub. The 36-year-old artist was apprehended at Salford's Lowry Hotel on Thursday following an incident that reportedly occurred at the Tape club in Mayfair during 2023.
Brown is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on music producer Abe Diaw using a bottle. He was in Manchester to prepare for his upcoming UK tour scheduled for June and July, with performances set for Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
During the hearing, Brown, dressed in black tracksuit bottoms and a plain t-shirt, confirmed his full name and date of birth for the court. When asked about his address, he identified The Lowry Hotel. District Judge Joanne Hirst informed him that the complexity of the grievous bodily harm charge necessitates a transfer of the case to Southwark Crown Court in London, with the next hearing slated for 13 June.
The singer had plans to perform in Amsterdam on 8 June, followed by shows in Germany and the UK. Outside the Manchester Magistrates' Court, devoted fans waited to show their support. One fan, 35-year-old Candy, expressed her loyalty to Brown, stating she had cancelled plans to be present and had fostered an interest in his music from a young age. "I love his music, his voice. Even my children are fans now," she shared, reflecting on her commitment to support the artist during this challenging time.
