In a surprising announcement, Dean Cain, best known for his portrayal of Superman in the 1993 series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," revealed his intention to join the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. During an interview on Wednesday, Cain, a sworn law enforcement officer, stated, "I will be sworn in as an ICE agent ASAP," following a recruitment video he released encouraging others to apply.

This move aligns with ICE's push to recruit 10,000 additional personnel to support a planned increase in deportations under the Trump administration. Cain noted that since sharing his recruitment message on Fox News, interest in joining has surged, leading him to make direct contact with ICE officials.

"I’m stepping up," Cain emphasized. "People have to step up. Hopefully, a whole bunch of other former officers and former ICE agents will step up, and we'll meet those recruitment goals immediately and help protect this country." His advocacy comes in the wake of significant protests against ICE's expanded operations, which critics argue are unlawful.

To attract candidates, ICE is offering substantial bonuses of up to $50,000 and student loan assistance, emphasizing a new campaign that mirrors World War II recruitment efforts, complete with posters urging Americans to "Defend the Homeland.”

As of Wednesday, ICE reported receiving over 80,000 applications for the 10,000 positions it aims to fill, further indicating the urgency and depth of this recruitment drive. With a current workforce of about 20,000 personnel across almost 400 offices nationwide, ICE's hiring initiative signals a marked escalation in immigration enforcement as federal funding approaches historic highs.
