Best-selling author Colleen Hoover has revealed she has been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with cancer. The US writer, 46, known for 'It Ends With Us' and 'Reminders of Him', reported nearly completing her radiotherapy and described her earlier surgery as a success.
Hoover shared her news on Instagram with a selfie in a hospital gown, stating: I'm doing much better. My cancer diagnosis was a while ago, but I chose to keep it private until after finding out my surgery was successful and what my other treatments would be.
Initially, she had conveyed the diagnosis to her fans in a private Facebook chat about a month ago, assuring them that the cancer had been removed and stating, I'm okay. In a candid update, she described her feelings during the process, stating it felt “huge and scary” and led her to miss significant career moments.
Hoover had experienced health issues throughout 2025 but chose to prioritize her work while filming the adaptation of her novel 'Reminders of Him' before seeking medical advice. After being diagnosed, she missed events such as the 'Regretting You' premiere.
In her posts, Hoover discussed potential links between her cancer and lifestyle choices, referencing aspects such as diet and stress. With a trademark sense of humor, she remarked, I'm happy and grateful to be alive but I hate vegetables, illustrating her struggles with the lifestyle changes needed for better health.
Recently, Hoover expressed her appreciation for the oncology team in Texas where she is receiving treatment, while reassuring her fans that her health updates are not aimed at gaining sympathy for her new book release, 'Woman Down', her first novel since 2022.
Despite her health issues, Hoover made a surprise appearance at a midnight release event for her novel, emphasizing her resilient spirit.
Hoover's impactful storytelling has resonated with millions, with her book 'It Ends With Us' selling over 20 million copies and being adapted into a film in 2024, amidst its own challenges. As she navigates her recovery, her latest news underlines her dedication both to her health and her craft.
