At least three Palestinian women have been killed and eight more injured after missile debris hit a beauty salon in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS). The PRCS reported that shrapnel struck the salon located in the town of Beit Awwa, near Hebron in the southern West Bank.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that fragments landed on a metal caravan used as a salon, in addition to several other parts of the West Bank. This tragic event occurred shortly after the Israeli military indicated that missiles from Iran had been fired towards it, and that work was underway to intercept these threats.

Wafa identified the deceased as Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, aged 17, Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, aged 50, and Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh, aged 36. The PRCS dispatched multiple ambulances to the site, discovering several casualties and injuries. The bodies of the deceased and other victims, who sustained critical and moderate injuries, were transported to a local hospital.

Initially reported as four fatalities, the death toll was later corrected to three. The PRCS noted that emergency response teams faced considerable challenges in accessing the site due to the closure of iron gates, which negatively impacted the timely rescue of injured victims.

The BBC has reached out to the Israeli military for comments on the incident.
