Sean 'Diddy' Combs has requested an appeals court to release him from prison and dismiss his conviction on prostitution-related charges. In a court filing for an expedited appeal, Combs' attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, argues that he was improperly sentenced, and the conduct leading to his conviction was not criminal. She labeled the 50-month prison sentence as unlawful, unconstitutional, and a perversion of justice and requested the court to either overturn the conviction or resentence Combs.

The appeal represents another effort from Combs' legal team to mitigate his sentence after a federal jury found him guilty earlier this spring. Combs was accused of using his money, power, and threats to coerce women into unwanted sexual encounters, leading to charges of transportation to engage in prostitution. Despite being acquitted of more serious charges, such as racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, he was still convicted of the lesser counts.

In court, Combs had apologized to his victims, calling his actions disgusting, shameful, and sick, acknowledging his misguided behavior due to excess and ego. He now faces numerous civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and exploitation, with representatives claiming he has never assaulted anyone. The Southern District of New York declined to comment on this latest appeal as Combs and his attorneys continue their battle against the serious allegations.
